Songs that 14 years agio that had a 'dark' theme are overshadowed now by tunes that make absolutely zero attempt to mask the force behind such 'gems' The other day a student wanted to learn a song that glorified beastiality in the most simple of terms and the most vulgar of descriptions and apart from flat out refusing this, I couldn't fathom as to why this guy wanted to learn that....he didn't have an answer other than it was a 'cool song' Having taught guitar for 14 years now, I have had my students bring in songs almost since day one. I appreciate your encouraging us to practice discernment in our music choices, Mike. Not sure it’s relevant, but I do find it especially troubling that the singer who produced the #1 song used to be a CCM artist.
