Having taught guitar for 14 years now, I have had my students bring in songs almost since day one. Songs that 14 years agio that had a 'dark' theme are overshadowed now by tunes that make absolutely zero attempt to mask the force behind such 'gems' The other day a student wanted to learn a song that glorified beastiality in the most simple of terms and the most vulgar of descriptions and apart from flat out refusing this, I couldn't fathom as to why this guy wanted to learn that....he didn't have an answer other than it was a 'cool song'

Good find Ted. I think it totally underscores the point I was making this weekend about opening the door and entertaining a non-redemptive world system.

Not sure it's relevant, but I do find it especially troubling that the singer who produced the #1 song used to be a <a href="http://currentchristian.com/blog/2008/07/02/chart-topping-i-kissed-a-girl-singer-started-as-ccm-performer/" rel="nofollow">CCM artist</a>.

I appreciate your encouraging us to practice discernment in our music choices, Mike.
